The molars are particularly stressed when chewing. When more than half of the crown is damaged, especially if the defect involves the interdental space, it is recommended to restore the tooth with porcelain (ceramic) restorations. Compared to filling material, porcelain is stronger (similar in strength to tooth enamel) and can withstand the chewing load well, with less chance of fracture of the tooth wall. The restoration with a veneer eliminates the need to grind the tooth, preserves the remaining tooth tissue and restores the tooth aesthetically.
