Trainer system

Breathing through the mouth and swallowing the tongue can be detrimental to further facial development. This can be prevented while the permanent teeth are erupting and the child is growing. Teeth retainers help to straighten teeth and correct the position of the jaws.

Dental trainers have a tooth management system that is formed in the appliance in the area of the front teeth and works in a similar way to orthodontic wires. For example, the lip arches create a small force that straightens the front teeth, while the tongue loop in the trainer guides the tongue into the correct position. The tongue guard prevents the tongue from pushing forward and encourages the child to breathe through the nose, while the lip bumpers prevent the lip muscles from becoming too active.

We recommend wearing the tooth trainer for one hour during the day and using it every night. It can be worn while doing homework, watching TV, working on the computer or playing games. If your child cannot use the appliance at night, they should wear it longer during the day. Ideally, teeth straightening should simply become part of the daily routine.

However, if the front teeth become a little sensitive at the start of treatment, wear the trainer for a shorter period. When the sensitivity decreases, wear the appliance a little longer. Sometimes the trainer can fall out of your mouth at night. This is caused by tongue thrusting or mouth breathing. These are bad habits that need to be corrected, so just continue with the treatment.

Children should keep their mouths closed at all times when using a trainer. So remember to make sure that the child’s lips are closed when the trainer is put in the mouth. Remind the child using the appliance that the tip of the tongue should be kept at about the same place as the tongue loop, even if the child is not wearing the appliance at the time.

You should not chew the appliance and, after removing it from your mouth, be sure to rinse it under running water and put it in the box provided.
