Injection treatment of bruxism

Bruxism is a parafunctional grinding of teeth, usually occurring at night and associated with stressful situations or a certain type of face - strongly expressed masticatory muscles (deep bite and short lower third of the face). Bruxism is diagnosed by dentist during a dental examination. A generalized enamel wear and dentin exposure is visible. Injection treatment of masseter muscle is based on small dose injections of botulinum toxin. Botox weakens muscular activities, thus reducing tooth wear. Masticatory function is not reduced.

The procedure should be repeated every 4-6 months.
