How long will teeth bleaching results last?
It depends on personal oral hygiene and eating habits – coloring foods such as coffee, black tea, red wine consumption, smoking. After laser teeth bleaching, we always prescribe teeth bleaching trays to maintain the bleaching effect. It is enough to wear trays for a few hours every 6 months. For those who believe that tooth bleaching ties you for repeated procedures, we want to assure that even without maintenance bleaching teeth will be whiter than it was before the bleaching.

What are the advantages of laser teeth bleaching?
Laser teeth bleaching is the most effective of in-office bleaching procedures. A special bleaching gel is used, which enhances the effectiveness of a laser. The process takes about 30 minutes, the result is seen immediately. Increased tooth sensitivity completely disappears within 24 hours. The laser bleaching is superior to an in-office bleaching without a light source, and superior to bleaching with other light sources (bleaching lamps). Laser beam is aligned with photoactivated gel – all laser’s energy is used to activate the hydrogen peroxide at once and then the energy is absorbed, preventing tooth tissues from overheating. This is the fastest way of teeth bleaching, because maximum efficiency is achieved over a short period of time. Due to the relatively short gel application time, negative effects to tooth tissues are eliminated.
Most in-office teeth bleaching systems are based on thermal gel activation, while laser activates bleaching gel with monochromatic light, not heat. However, magical bleaching methods do not exist – we have tested the majority of them and we conclude that tooth response is very individual. If patient wants more pronounced effect after in-office bleaching, we offer additional teeth bleaching at home using teeth bleaching trays and individualized bleaching protocol (usually lasts for 2-3 days).

What are the methods of teeth bleaching?
Teeth can be bleached at home or in the dental office. Teeth bleaching at home usually takes 10-14 days. There are a variety of strips and special arches for teeth whitening, but the most effective way of domestic whitening is teeth bleaching with trays. Special individualized tray, representing the dental arch form is made for the patient. Special bleaching agent is applied inside the tray. The patient must wear the tray for a few hours a day as prescribed for at least 10 days. During the entire period of bleaching tooth sensitivity is increased, so you should avoid staining foods, coffee, tea, red wine, smoking. When bleaching in-office, higher concentration bleaching gel is used and the result is achieved especially fast. In order to enhance the effect a laser and special lamps may be used. Usually onetime procedure is enough to achieve the desired effect. Teeth sensitivity is increased for one day after the procedure. Staining foods and drinks as well as smoking should be avoided for two more days. Both ways are good and effective, but bleaching with dental trays requires a lot of effort and patience, while it takes only one visit at the dentist, if in-office bleaching is chosen. However, such bleaching is approximately twice as expensive compared to teeth bleaching at home.

Is teeth bleaching harmful to the teeth?
Teeth bleaching is not the novelty in world. The majority of modern bleaching agents include hydrogen or carbamide peroxide which has been used in teeth bleaching for over 100 years. Many studies carried out in different countries confirm that teeth bleaching with hydrogen peroxide is safe and does not alter the structure of a tooth and its surrounding tissues. Of course, it must be carried out in accordance with the rules and conditions. The dental specialist must be aware of the procedure, control and train the patient to cooperate properly.
