Orthodontics

Orthodontics

Since the beginning of times healthy teeth were an inseparable part of an attractive human concept. Today things stay the same. Misaligned teeth prevent one from smiling freely, lower self-esteem, cause psychological problems. Luckily, orthodontics offers a variety of options to help.

Orthodontics is a branch of esthetic medicine, which treats misaligned teeth and malocclusion. The key element of orthodontics is a teeth straightening procedure, when, using various orthodontic appliances, teeth position is altered, therefore creating a harmonic smile. Teeth straightening procedure brings back the smile on your face, protects from pathological tooth wear, early tooth loss and temporomandibular joint problems.

Teeth alignment can be determined genetically, or be impacted by various factors, such as early deciduous tooth extraction, mouth breathing, incorrect tongue position or swallowing.  We offer various teeth straightening techniques, which will help align your teeth, lose ill habits and let you have a flawless smile.

Teeth alignment techniques:

  • Invisalign splints
  • Dental braces
  • Orthodontic appliances
  • Trainers etc.

Unfortunately, sometimes orthodontic problems cannot be solved so easily. Some cases require a lot of patients’ energy and time. However, a new concept of accelerated orthodontics allows minor teeth misalignments to be treated rapidly and effectively. Orthodontic problems must be taken seriously because teeth misalignment and malocclusion progresses swiftly and can lead to an excessive teeth caries and wear, periodontal lesions, mastication problems and even a change of face profile.

Teeth straightening dates back to 1000 years B.C.  Etruscans and Greeks are thought to have made first primitive orthodontic appliances. Rapid development of dentistry began in the 18th-19th century. It was at that time, when most of the orthodontic appliances were invented. Edward H. Angle and Norman W. Kingsley are considered to be the fathers of contemporary orthodontics. USA started preparing orthodontists at the beginning of the 20th century, however, in Lithuania first orthodontist graduated only in the end of the 20th century.
