WATERLASE creates Hydrokinetic energy, i.e. a laser activates drops of water, which remove decayed dental tissue as well as soft tissue (gums). By using laser energy combined with an air/water spray, the temperature of the tooth does not change and there is no vibration. Consequently no pain is felt and in many cases no anaesthetic is needed. When the device is turned on, no unpleasant sound is heard, only ticking. A laser cut is precise in addition to destroying bacteria so that the surface of the tooth is sterilised, the filling bonds to the dental tissue better, and decay is prevented from starting again under the filling. Very good results are obtained by treating soft tissue and gums with a laser; the treatment is painless and sterile, causes little bleeding, and ensures excellent healing without scar.
